In Maine folklore, many stories are told of crafty geezers who lay in wait at gas stations and general stores just to taunt lost tourists. And over the years, Maine humorists have encouraged this kind of behavior. Funny thing is, harassed tourists find this practice quaint and continue to flock to the state like fleas to a dog. Won’t be long before folks up at the state capital force locals to give out-of-staters a hard time…under penalty of law.
